He plays one of TV's most talked about characters, Don Draper.

So with AMC's Mad Men coming to a close, one would expect nothing less than for Jon Hamm to end with a bang.

Giving fans a sight to remember, the 43-year-old actor was spotted shirtless while allegedly filming the final scene of his hit series in Los Angeles on Monday.

Hamm revealed his scruffy chest, as his Sixties-inspired plaid blouse was left unbuttoned.

The sunglasses-clad star also put his legs on display in a pair of tiny bright blue shorts.

The actor is no doubt finding it bittersweet filming his final scenes, which included another Sixties ensemble and a classic car.

For that scene, Hamm wore an electric blue jacket over a brown plaid shirt and brown trousers in keeping with the season's time period of 1969.

He slicked his dark hair back in a side parting, and shielded his eyes with aviator shades.

Hamm was seen emerging from a classic silver car before standing in front of a colourful house, checking his phone between takes.

The second half of season seven of the hit AMC show started filming end of March, and will air in 2015.

Meanwhile, John says he just can't understand why anyone would find his Mad Men alter ego Don attractive.

Talking to Glamour magazine, the actor explains: 'He’s a terrible guy. It’s not his fault he’s damaged, but he’s a terrible guy.'

Despite being lusted after by his fans, Jon doesn't understand the seemingly universal appeal of the flawed advertising exec.

'With men, it’s like, "That’s the guy you want to be?" Go buy a nice suit and comb your hair, but don’t do the other parts of the character [the cheating, the lying].

'And I find it crazy when women like Don. There are better dudes.

'You wanna date smart, good-looking, talented Ken Cosgrove [Aaron Staton's good-natured character]. That’s who you want to be with.'

But it seems modest Jon may be discounting a hefty part of his character's appeal - his own good looks.

'It’s weird, honestly,' he says, of being labelled handsome. 'When I look in the mirror, I see the same person I’ve seen since I was 10 years old. I don’t wake up in the morning and go, "There he is! Hot guy number one!" Absolutely not.'

i am one of the lucky few who has saved up a few seasons of this show on netflix. i only watched s1 and i've been waiting for the right time to watch the whole thing!!! can't wait.
