Description
The Mon Calamari people are a humanoid, aquatic species with high-domed heads, webbed hands and large, goggle-like eyes. They hail from the oceans of Mon Cala, a planet they share with the Quarren. During the Clone Wars, differences between the two cultures were fanned by Separatist troublemakers to erupt in civil war.
During the Galactic Civil War, the Mon Calamari were said to be the soul of the Rebel Alliance. The Empire pressed these gentle, amphibious people into war by subjugating their watery world. In retaliation, the Mon Calamari became one of the key species of the Rebellion, supplying badly needed warships to the outnumbered Alliance fleet.

Relationships
Ackbar
The most respected of the Rebel Alliance Mon Calamari is Admiral Ackbar, leader of the fleet. The stern gravelly-voiced tacticians led the Rebel space forces as they engaged the Empire at the critical Battle of Endor.
Quarren
While the Mon Calamari have flourished in technology, arts and galactic sophistication, they have overshadowed their planet-mates the Quarren, who prefer isolation. This has led to a deep resentment of the Mon Calamari by the Quarren.
Mon Cala
The Mon Calamari have built beautiful cities amid the coral reefs of their planet, Mon Cala. The majestic spires of Mon Calamari towers have a gentle, organic curve to them.
Prince
Lee-Char
Prince Lee-Char was to be the 83rd king of Mon Cala, when the sudden murder of his father, Yos Kalina, plunged his planet into civil war during the Clone Wars.
Mon Calamari star cruiser
The graceful lines of Mon Calamari architecture can be found in the design of their mighty star cruisers, that formed the backbone of the Rebel Alliance fleet and figured prominently in the Battle of Endor.
