Carly Simon to perform at Ascap's ‘We Write The Songs’ Event

Carly Simon will be performing at the sixth annual Ascap event which will take place 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at The Library of Congress in Washington, DC.

The evening, hosted by ASCAP Foundation President Paul Williams, will also include performances by several of ASCAP’s leading songwriter and composer members, who will donate original materials to The ASCAP Collection at the Library of Congress.

Performers at the event include (in alphabetical order): Jon Batiste (Creative), Alan Bergman (The Way We Were), Josh Kear (Need You Now), Randy Newman (You’ve Got a Friend in Me), Carly Simon (You’re So Vain), Narada Michael Walden (Freeway of Love), Jimmy Webb (Wichita Lineman), Ann & Nancy Wilson [Heart] (Barracuda).

As a look back on their spectacular year as UK City of Culture 2013, Walled City Records in association with Iris Records and Derry City Council are releasing Mairead Carlin and Damian McGinty's version of Carly Simon's iconic hit song 'Let The River Run'.

Their version of the song, which Carly Simon described as 'absolutely stunningly wonderful', will be released on Jan. 20th.

Guests at the 2013 Oceana Partners Award Gala in Los Angeles, CA were treated to a live musical performance from Carly Simon and Natasha Bedingfield. The event was attended by leaders from the entertainment, business and philanthropic communities that support Oceana’s efforts to protect the world’s oceans. Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and HBO CEO Richard Plepler were the night’s special guests and spoke about the importance of Oceana’s work and ocean conservation. Carly Simon & Taylor Swift perform You're So Vain (Live)

As a surprise special guest, Carly Simon joined Taylor Swift on stage tonight to sing You're So Vain together. It was the second night of Swift's sold-out Red Tour at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. For Simon, who only occasionally appears live in concert, performing before a crowd of 55,000 was a momentous occasion.

Earlier in the week, Taylor Swift tweeted "I feel like I definitely get along with people roughly 45% more if they know all the words to 'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon.", which moved thousands of her devoted fans become familiar with Carly Simon's iconic hit song.
