Most celebrities of their caliber would be expected to share their big day with a glossy magazine deal.

But back in 2008, Beyonce and Jay Z married in secret, keeping their precious wedding day to themselves. Until now that is.

On Wednesday night, footage from their intimate ceremony was projected onto huge screens in a stadium in Miami, as the pair kicked off their joint tour On The Run.

On April 4th 2008, the pair were said to have quietly picked up marriage licenses in Scarsdale, New York.

At the time, the pair had been dating for six years, although they had made no mention in that time of a planned wedding.

Even when rapper Jay was congratulated on the news after the event had taken place, he replied 'I don't know what you're talking about.'

There was said to be around 40 guests in attendance, including her sister Solange Knowles.

In the footage from the tour, Beyonce is seen wearing a traditional white gown with a veil, while Jay is seen looking dapper in a tux.

Three years after Beyonce married Jay Z she revealed her wedding dress to the world in the video for her single, I Was Here.

She dedicated the song to her fans, and shared footage from some major milestones in her life, ranging from childhood home videos to her in her wedding dress.

However, this is the first time fans have seen Jay Z on their wedding day.

It was only six months after they married that Beyonce even spoke about the wedding.

She told Essence magazine: 'What Jay and I have is real. It's not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It's real.

'We've been together a long time," she says. "We always knew it would happen.'

She added that the wedding was small because she is not a 'traditional woman, and said, 'It's been my day so many days already'.

I wonder what made them so suddenly release wedding footage?! I like these two....... but they've gone down in my expectations and the videos of the tour seem to show lack of spark compared to what you'd see before the episode in the elevator.

They are pulling out all the stops, every single one of them in their desperate attempts to stay relevant. Previously, no one knew nothing of them but now they see more talented, more interesting pop stars coming up behind them and they are running scared. They look sad and pathetic.
