Litherland

The Leeds-Liverpool canal passes through Litherland. It was famous for its gala and procession of shire horses and floats from the docks. Linacre Lane was once home to a huge Bryant and May Diamond Match Factory which was destroyed in the 1941 May blitz. The Beatles played some of their earliest gigs at Litherland Town Hall in 1961.
