Not your average bag lady! Style guru Rachel Zoe ignores expensive stores for the more affordable Gap on LA shopping spree

As a fashion stylist for a host of celebrities, she usually gets clothing sent to her.

That's not always the case, and on Wednesday Rachel Zoe was spotted out on a solo shopping spree in Beverly Hills, California.

But the 42-year-old fashionista didn't frequent the upscale neighbourhood's high-end designer stores.

Ever chic, the mother-of-two wore a flowing, dark blue, sleeveless maxi dress with a deep V-neck - the perfect item for a day when the temperature hit the high 80sF.

She accessorized with a statement necklace that linked beaten gold medallions with chain that fell in four strands, covering her chest, plus two gold bangles and a watch.

And she wore wooden soled platform sandals, adding four or five inches to her height.

Rachel's long, wavy blonde hair was woven into a semi updo and braided to fall to the side of her face, which was perfectly made up as usual.

She shared an Instagram snap of the style with a shoutout to her hairdresser, Kendal Cohan, saying: '#regram @rachelzoestudio summer hair by my @kendallelisec.'

Missing from her shopping trip, was her business manager and husband of 23 years Rodger Berman and their two boys, Skyler, three, and 18-months-old Kaius.

Rachel rose to prominence in the fashion industry after styling stars including Anne Hathaway, Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton, Nicole Richie and Keira Knightley.

The former reality star and mompreneur is currently promoting her collaboration with Jockey dubbed the 'Skimmies slipshorts' as well as her lifestyle tome Living In Style.

How long can I continue to defend her. She looks haggard and emaciated and her clothes are dreadful. It's an awful feeling to admire someone and be so disappointed in them. Her children are exquisite and she seems to be a loving mother and wife.

She is slender for sure, but she has boney slightly protruding chest bones. On men they call it barrel chested. Even if she put on weight she would still have a boney chest. I know, as I have the same oddity.

Some people just can't put on weight, I am one of them, in my younger days when Kraft's coffee came around to the office I used to eat four jelly donuts and that was just morning coffee........The most weight I had was when I was pregnant and that was 118 lbs

There are some photos of Zoe when she was in her 20s and she was gorgeous. She has amazing eyes and her face was beautiful. I don't understand why she doesn't gain 10 lbs so she can fill out some of those lines in her face. She is making herself look older than her years. Shame.
