The Island of Greenland

Only one sixth of Greenland is ice free.

Icebergs from Greenland can travel 4,000km before they melt.

Greenland is the world’s largest non-continental island.

The Inuit are often part of scientific research efforts giving oral evidence about how the arctic landscape has changed over the generations.

Greenland has been covered with two kilometres of thick ice for the last two million years.

Nearly 90% of Greenland's population is Inuit.

The Sirius patrol of 27 men is the only military organisation in the world which still uses their six dog teams to carry out patrols.
