'We are done'! Joel Madden reveals he and twin brother Benji once had such a bad fight they trashed a hotel room and nearly destroyed  their close relationship

By Karishma Sarkari

Twin rock stars Joel and Benji Madden have grown up doing everything together - from playing varsity football to being ditched by their dates at prom.

The brothers also went on to become global superstars as hit rockers in the band Good Charlotte and dating Hollywood hotties.

The 35-year-old superstars, who are co-coaches on the The Voice Kids Australia, have always had a strong bond but one day a full blown fight between the pair nearly ruined their relationship.

Joel revealed details of the fight, which took place in Germany whilst on tour years ago, in an interview in this week's New Idea magazine.

'It was just a full-blown, destroy-the-dressing-room kind of fight. We never argue but that one was really bad' Joel said about the one and only physical altercation the brothers have had.

Although the pair cannot remember what their biff was about, Benji added that the intensity of it was definitely heightened.

'It might have been influenced by alcohol and other things...but you know what, there is never a chance of us breaking up. We have that security with each other. When you have that, you know there is nothing you can do to f*** this up and then you don't have to pretend about anything.' Benji told the mag.

The Madden Brothers have certainly put all of that behind them now and are having a fresh start in life and in their music.

Their new sound and hit song We Are Done got to Number One on the ARIA singles charts this week, toppling Justice Crew from their record breaking streak in the top spot.

Now, Benji and Joel are also showing us their nurturing side on TV singing competition The Voice Kids.

Benji told The Guide earlier this month that for him and Joel, doing the show was a 'no-brainer' because it's a bit of fun and allowed them to stay in their "second home" for a few months.

'I think it's a known fact that Joel and I have always loved Australia since we started coming here 13 or 14 years ago,'

'Everyone knows we love it here. Our only concern is will we wear our welcome out?' Benji said.

Dealing with the dreams of young wannabe stars Benji said the brothers just hope to inspire kids to take up music out of all this.

'Whether they get through the first round or whether they win the whole show, we want them to leave The Voice Kids experience wanting to do music more and not less,' Benji said.

So far, after the fourth episode of Blind Auditions, Team Madden is going strong with 11 places already filled.

The Voice Kids continues next Sunday at 6.30pm on the Nine Network.
