And Hilary Duff was showing off the fruits of her labour in a pair of grey skinny jeans that highlighted her shapely figure while shopping at MAC cosmetics in Los Angeles on Monday.

The 26-year-old actress paired it with a funky checkered blouse and strut her stuff in pale pink pumps.

The Cinderella Story star carried a quilted black purse and wore her shoulder-length blonde hair swept back in a low-maintenance bun.

She displayed her fabulous figure while shooting a music video on the beach in Malibu on Friday.

While the production crew made sure everything looked just right for her long awaited return to music, the talented beauty was kept company by her adorable two-year-old son Luca and her not-so estranged husband Mike Comrie.

In January, the couple announced they had mutually decided upon an 'amicable separation' in a statement to People.

'They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives,' their rep told the magazine at the time. 'They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time.'

Hilary explained that she and Mike are working out their relationship post-separation, telling Us Weekly, 'We're just trying to enjoy our lives and figure out what makes us happy and it's working for us.'

Meanwhile the So Yesterday singer has been hard at work in the studio in recent months after taking a seven year break from the music industry.

She's been working with Ed Sheeran, who recently revealed Hilary's new album will have a different sound from what her fans may be used to.

'I feel like her record is not what they will expect,' the 23-year-old musician told MTV.

'Obviously she comes from Lizzie McGuire and that pop world, but she’s more grown up now, so it’s more of an adult alternative acoustic sound.'
