She can hold a plank for 10 minutes! Miranda Kerr reveals the diet and exercise secrets that keep her in model shape

By Karishma Sarkari

Australian model Miranda Kerr has a figure that's the envy of women worldwide.

Although the 31-year-old keeps to a fairly strict diet, she certainly doesn't play up to the notion of a model who doesn't eat, revealing that she likes to feast on eggs, chicken, sauerkraut, salad, almond butter and even her gran's Pavlova.

And she says when it comes to her fitness she likes to exercise regularly, even involving her three -year-old son Flynn in the routine.

Speaking to Body & Soul magazine she revealed: 'I like to exercise every day but I mix it up. I may even just put some music on and let Flynn dance around while I hold the plank position for 10 minutes to strengthen my core.'

Good nutrition is also an integral part of her life, and Miranda tries to keep sugar and wheat out of her daily diet but does indulge in them once in a while and sticks to a diet high in vegetables, meat, fruit and nuts.

The stunner also revealed one of her secrets to her slender figure is staying well hydrated by drinking lots of different teas as well as green juices and protein shakes.

While if she starts to feel the lurgy coming on, the model starts drinking a warm water, honey, lemon and garlic concoction and to keep on the defensive against getting sick, the brunette beauty admits to taking a mix of supplements daily to help keep her healthy.

In terms of toning those long limbs of hers, Miranda has always been open about her love of Pilates to keep her in shape and is a yoga devotee, having practiced Hatha and Kundalini yoga for 15 years.

'I try to do at least 20 minutes of yoga or resistance training per day!' she told fans during a Twitter chat two weeks ago.

A brand ambassador for fitness brand Reebok, Miranda likes to run regularly but says in terms of fitness, it's the little things that add up.

'Having an active daily routine helps. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator [sic]. Walking instead of driving when possible,' the New York-based model said during the chat.

But don't worry, Miranda is human too and even the fit Aussie expat has her days where she needs a little extra motivation to get moving.

'There are times when it’s tough, or you don’t feel like it but once I get my workout gear on and I’m there I usually find that I can get into it and I enjoy it!' Miranda confessed to OK! Magazine in 2012.

Despite being a former Victoria's Secret model, now a Wonderbra model, and constantly stripping down to her underwear in front of the camera the brunette beauty has her own body insecurities, but tries to look at it as a glass half full, rather than half empty scenario.

'I try not to focus on the negative...Everyone is different and beautiful in their own way so instead of focusing on what you don’t like, focus on what you do like, it’s a much healthier attitude.' she said in the magazine interview.

Models cannot be held responsible for women with body image problems. I am in my 40's and have cellulite and wrinkles, but am listening to her message. Try and live a healthy life with a sensible diet and exercise. It's simple peeps, she looks gorgeous but her message is not about looking gorgeous.

OK she's got good genes, access to trainers and money and diet etc. BUT she still has to do the work. No one else does it for her. She has to do it herself. If people are really honest with themselves they'll admit that they just do not do the work/diet required, to get the results they CAN achieve for themselves. Now to the fridge with much haste for some comfort eating.........

At least she lives a healthy lifestyle and doesn't live off cigarettes and coffee like most models.

Holding a plank for ten minutes isn't that hard when you barely weigh anything. Miranda is also genetically blessed, I doubt she has to work very hard to keep the pounds off.
