She has just announced she is pregnant.

So Poppy Montgomery must have had an Unforgettable day full of congratulations as she filmed her hit show in New York on Monday.

The Aussie actress was back on set of the CBS programme on the Upper West Side five days after revealing her secret on the Late Show With David Letterman.

The 39-year-old redhead wore two outfits during the day.

A black tee with a lace inset in its plunging V-neck paired with black jeans pulled up below her blossoming tummy; and a black smock with a drawstring neckline that gave her baby bump plenty of room.

And she posted a dramatic Instagram snap showing her pointing a gun out of a window, captioned: 'Pregnant woman with a gun! Nothing gets in the way of Carrie Wells when she wants to stop a bad guy! #badass #babybump #unforgettable #cbs'

The star of the police drama told Letterman she had been filming the third season of the show 'doing all my own stunts and running and leaping.'

Poppy added: 'I haven't told anybody because I didn't want them to treat me differently, but now I do.

'I want people to give me their seats. I want them to open doors. I want to be a proud, pregnant action star,' she said as the audience laughed.

The actress said her co-stars on Unforgettable would be surprised when they watched The Late Show. 'I don't think I can hide it anymore,' she added.

Poppy, who as starred in the CBS drama since 2011, plays police detective Carrie Wells who has a rare condition that allows her to visually remember anything she has heard or seen.

Before that she played FBI agent Samantha Spade on the CBS mystery drama Without a Trace from 2002 to 2009.

The actress was the focus of pregnancy rumours last week after displaying a baby bump at Los Angeles International Airport where she was greeted with a huge kiss by her husband Microsoft executive Shawn Sanford.

It will be the couple's second child. They have a daughter, Violet Grace, 14 months, and Poppy has a son, Jackson, six, from her previous relationship with Adam Kaufman.

Shawn has two children: son, Braydon, 8 and daughter, Haley, 11, from his previous marriage.

The couple met at an event in Puerto Rico in 2011, following her marriage break up earlier that year. They tied the knot in February this year at Disneyland surrounded by their family.
