Kyle Richards experienced a scary moment on Tuesday when her daughter Portia ran near a busy street.

Fortunately, the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star acted fast and gently tugged a strand of the five-year-old's hair to pull her back.

Portia swiftly returned to her mother, and the 45-year-old gave her a stern talking to about being safe around traffic.

The mother and daughter duo had just left a Studio City restaurant after lunch together.

Richards was dressed casually in jeans, a white-buttoned down shirt and pink flip flops for the lunch with Portia and another mother-daughter pair.

The well-heeled aunt of Paris Hilton had her brunette locks styled in a high pony tail and carried an expensive leather tote bag with shiny bronze stitching.

Her beautiful daughter - Portia's father is real estate agent Mauricio Umansky - was in light pink shorts, a pink top and mini Ugg boots.

Butterfingers: Portia crouched down to pick up her toy as Kyle hovered near to keep her safe

The socialite and other cast members of the dramatic reality show are all receiving pay raises, it was revealed this week.

Season Five returnees including Kyle and her sister, Kim; Brandi Glanville, Yolanda Foster and Lisa Vanderpump - plus new addition Lisa Rina - will all earn between $450,000 to $500,000 apiece.

Kim has described Season Four - with the bitter snipping between Brandi and the others - as 'dark.'

But the good-natured mother-of-four said she's already having a good time filming new episodes.

'I think it’s going to be a really good season and I’m excited. I’m curious, like the viewer, to see things unfold and see what the relationships are like,' she told Us Weekly last month as filming recommenced.

If I had to choose between seeing my child run into traffic, or pulling her back into safety on her hair, I would pull her hair. I don't like Kyle, but she is a good mother.
