Hot in heavy metal! Cheryl Burke sparkles in silver as Jordana Brewster and Amy Purdy work the metallic trend at ESPY Awards

By Shyam Dodge

Metallic gowns were very much the order of the day at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday, with dance pro Cheryl Burke stealing the red carpet show.

The 30-year-old stunner wore a silver dress with a sheer backless design and short skirt that showcased her toned and curvy figure.

But she wasn't the only one to favour metal at the Los Angeles ceremony with Amy Purdy and Jordana Brewster both opting for shimmer and shine.

Completing Cheryl's attire were black stiletto pumps as she wore her brunette locks in a neat part.

In May, the dancing champ opened up to People about her recent 15 pounds weight loss.

'You've got to tune out the other people and tune into what's going on inside,' she said at the time. 'Love yourself. Nourish your body. Be kind to one another.'

Meanwhile, Fast & Furious star Jordana wore a thigh-skimming nude dress with metallic designs and floral touches embroidered along the hemline of her skirt.

The 34-year-old pinned her hair back as she still tall in nude pumps while posing gracefully on the red carpet.

But Purdy, also 34, may have taken the metallic theme to the maximum in a silver floor length gown with a thigh-high slit.

Also on the red carpet was tennis star Maria Sharapova, who wore an LBD that displayed her statuesque figure.

Extending her 6ft2in with a pair of striking stilettos, the 27-year-old swept her blonde locks behind her as she struck a few sultry poses.

But Cheryl wasn't the only dancer at the event as she posed with Kym Johnson, who went all out in a crop top and matching metallic pink pencil skirt.

'I'm sure it will be extremely awkward when I do,' Drake said on Friday, discussing a possible encounter with Diggins. 'I guess if she manages to show up, I probably owe her an apology. It's all been in good spirits.'

I don't think evening gowns should be worn at an event like this, cocktail dresses such as Jordana Brewster's are much more appropriate.

Cheryl Burke has gotten too thin IMO. I liked her much better when she had that little extra on her.

Cheryl does not look "fit and fabulous", She barely looks like herself anymore. I thought it was that skeletal Giulana Rancic woman at first. Cheryl has evaporated!

about 90% of these outfits are just questionable. Seriously they get paid ridiculous amounts of money why not just hire a stylist?
