May Goals: Recap

May 31, 2010 - 8:44 pm 1 Comment

Here are my goals for 2010. The ones in bold are ones I’ve begun working on, and anything that can no longer be worked on is crossed off:

1. Paint pottery in Olympia for my apartment. I still have to make plans to do this with my mom in Gig Harbor for a belated Mother’s Day present. I love the plate I made in Oly, though. Love it.
2. Get eyes checked and get NEW GLASSES!
3. Reorganize storage in my apartment for maximum efficiency.
4. Reconnect with local old friends. Mostly spending a lot of time in my neighborhood with Phedre. Hopefully reconnecting with a couple of others this upcoming month. Making plans for old friends to come visit this summer. Love.
5. Dallas in February! Instead of Dallas in February I did Wenatchee in May. Love my blog girls.
6. Take more weekend mini trips. This month was good for that. Nashville and Wenatchee. No idea where I’m planning on going next. I’d like to go somewhere with my mom.
7. Lose 24 more pounds. New target: Lose 2.4 more lbs. Yes!
8. Take yoga or toning class for Hawaii. Can’t really afford any gym memberships or classes, but I’ve started doing half an hour of excercise, five days a week. It will be interesting to see how that helps.
9. Buy a cute bikini!
10. Hawaii 2010!! Had to buy a new car. No longer going to Hawaii.
11. Begin plans for Iceland 2011.
12. Sew at least one apron and some curtains for my room.
13. Learn to crochet.
14. Be more “Mad Men”. On going. Growing my hair back out. I need to eat out less and stay home more. Hmm. Embrace my inner domestic goddess.
15. Go camping.
16. Get a new passport.
17. Find a sofa that fits my style.
18. Frame Weezer’s print.
19. Find a classy, inexpensive headboard.
20. Buy one piece of original art.
21. Start searching for new cars!!! Done. Purchased. Worst experience of my life, but I love my little car.
22. Journal monthly, at least. Journaled every month, some scrapbooking, but not in awhile, and frequent Listography lists as well. I would like to do this all more frequently, though.
23. Take more pictures. Tons of pics from my trip to TN.
24. Become a regular at my neighborhood businesses. Working on it. Haven’t been to Corina in awhile. Doing most of my shopping at the local Thriftway. Frequenting Doyle’s more with Phedre.
25. Pay off one student loan. I need to put these back into Forbearance, so I don’t think this one is going to happen. However, I am applying to Grad school. Eep!
26. Shop vintage more.
27. Sign up for Happy Mail.

This month I want to focus on one camping trip, another scrapbooking page, framing Weezer’s print, finishing my weightloss goal, and sewing curtains for my bedroom.  And also continuing my daily walks.

Day 8 – A Photo That Makes You Angry/Sad

May 31, 2010 - 8:32 pm 3 Comments

I found this picture in a box of photos at my mom’s house last October. My aunt had just passed away, and my whole family was in California for her memorial, which I was missing because I had to be at work. I pulled together several photos from my time growing up in California, when my aunt was an active presence in my life. I found this picture, from before I was born, and she looked so sad. I used it in my memorial video, as the final shot, and it chills me whenever I watch it. This picture haunts me.

Day 7.1 – A Photo That Makes You Happy

May 31, 2010 - 5:50 am 1 Comment

Today Other Brother and I bought some dog bowls for the dogs. I told him and Mom that the blue Surfer Dog one was totally Klondike, and I saw Jude using the girly strawberry one, and they both told me I was wrong. Tonight I washed up the bowls, set them on the floor with food in them, and let the dogs loose.

Behold:

You guys have been Pwned. I win.

What Else Did I Do Today?

May 30, 2010 - 5:32 am 2 Comments

(Besides shopping….)

I watched movie after movie after movie. :P Ridiculous. I feel so lazy!

I started out my day watching:

My Other Brother recommended this, and it was really good. I have a short attention span with movies, but I enjoyed this all the way through. And hello, Robert Downey, Jr? Hotness.

Then I watched this:

It was okay. I enjoyed it, but I didn’t think it was anything super memorable. Oh well.

And now I am watching this:

It is really cute. Really cute. Charlyne Yi is the most adorable girl ever, and Michael Cera is so sweet, and they are precious together, OMG. Love.

Day Six — Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

May 29, 2010 - 11:43 pm 3 Comments

What tickles my fancy today is a What’s In Your Bag post. Except, instead of my purse, it’s my Liberty of London shopping bag. Sales at the mall! Yay. I love to look at what I spent, and compare it to what I should have spent. Love.

The ever present Liberty of London folding shopping bag.

Keychain for Dana. Full Price: 3.99 Sale Price: 1.98

Romy Cropped Cardigan. Full Price: 24.80 Sale Price: 7.99

Romy Cardigan. Full Price: 18.80 Sale Price: 4.99

Romy Skirt. Full Price: 24.80 Sale Price: 7.99

Aeropostale Huarache Sandals. Full Price: 29.50 Sale Price: 8.10

This means that I spent $31.05 on stuff that should have cost $101.89, creating a savings of $70.84. I LOVE when I save more than I spend!

Additionally, as a treat, a gift from my mom, which was free to me, but cost about $2ish. I don’t know the original price.

Love.

I love this so much I may have it tattooed on my body….

Day Four – Your Favorite Book

May 28, 2010 - 2:52 am No Comments

Of all the books I have read in my adult life, this is my favorite:

I can’t stand it. The story is so good. It’s so well written. I am in love with the characters. I want to live like Henry and Clare. Love. And then the movie came out, and it was awesome. When does that ever happen? I love this book!

This is my favorite book since childhood:

I found this book when I was in about the fourth grade, on my parents bookshelf. I fell in love with it right away. I like how it’s written for both adults and children alike. Awesome.
