She was going for a demure look, but Alexa Chung ended up showing a lot of leg when her dress blew up on Monday.

The TV presenter was spotted leaving her New York hotel for a cigarette break before heading out for the day.

Alexa was sporting a pretty floral dress that was perfect for summer, and ensured she stood out thanks to its bright hues.

The frock fell to the 30-year-old’s knees, but left her legs on show when she was hit by a gust of wind.

Marilyn Monroe style, Alexa quickly patted the skirt down as she chatted to a male friend while puffing away on her cigarette.

The British fashionista also sported flat black gladiator sandals and went make-up free, with her brunette hair in natural waves.

She then popped back inside to grab a black satchel and sunglasses before setting off again.

Alexa has recently been revealed as the face of NailInc's Kale nail polish, which has as many health benefits as the green super food.

Speaking about her new job, Alexa said: 'It was Nails Inc's array of bold, fresh colours that first caught my eye. Then I wore Nails inc's black leather polish a few years ago and I fell in love with the brand.
