'We could be talking an EF5 sharknado in Manhattan': Today weatherman Al Roker gives ominous forecast in hilariously straight-faced sequel cameo

By Mike Larkin

He is arguably America's favourite weatherman.

And Al Roker was professional as always as he delivered an ominous forecast in an hilarious Sharknado 2: The Second One cameo.

He is shown discussing the impending disaster of two tornados combining in New York with Matt Lauer in a spoof edition of Today that features in the movie.

In the clip, which appropriately debuted on the popular breakfast show on Tuesday, Matt says: 'The big question is, first of all, what is drawing these two twisters together and, I don't even want to ask, but what happens when they finally meet?'

Al then leaps into full emergency briefing mode, giving a chilling, yet completely ridiculous, forecast and impressively managing to keep a straight face throughout.

He says: 'Matt, I'm really nervous about this, in fact I'll say I'm downright scared.

'Here's the problem, island of Manhattan creates a lot of heat. As that hot air rises, cool air is sucked in to replace it and that effect is drawing these sharknados to the very heart of the city.'

He then explains just how disastrous things could turn out to be for the residents of New York.

Al said: 'Now if these two EF2 tornados merge the power could actually multiply. We could be talking about an EF5 sharknado on the upper east side of Manhattan.

'Matt, that is sufficient power enough to damage steel reinforced skyscrapers.'

Afeter the clip was shown Al was not afraid to mock his appearance in the silly film.

He said: 'I just got a call from the AMS (American Meteorological Society) they're tearing up my card.'

The sequel to the unashamedly cheesy 2013 B movie Sharknado is premieres on Wednesday at 9pm on Syfy.

Better than their usual banter?: Some will no doubt wish Matt and Al talked about sharknados more often
