She's only 17 years old but is clearly taking this grown-up career in her stride.

Chloe Moretz was a picture of elegance as she arrived at Tysons Corner Center Mall in McLean, Virginia, on Tuesday to kick off the promotional tour for her latest movie, If I Stay.

The Carrie actress donned a stylish black dress as she sat down with author Gayle Forman to sign autographs for waiting fans.

And so it begins! Chloe Moretz wore a white collared black dress as she arrived at Tysons Corner Center Mall in McLean, Virginia on Tuesday to promote her latest movie, If I Stay, with her brother Trevor Moretz by her side

Sporting a beaming smile, Chloe strolled into the busy shopping centre with her older brother Trevor Moretz - who doubles as her acting coach - by her side.

She wore a chic black dress which featured a white collar and an elastic draw at the waist.

Black heels gave the starlet a little extra height, and she had her long blonde tresses styled in neat curls which she wore loose around her shoulders.

Time to sign: The 17-year-old actress was full of smiles for her fans as she sat down to give autographs

The team: Chloe was joined by Gayle Forman who wrote the book on which the movie was based

The actress - who got her start in horror flick Amityville Horror - was joined by Gayle, who wrote the bestselling novel on which the movie was based.

The American young adult author looked striking in blue jeans, a navy blazer and layers of silver jewellery beneath her curly red tresses.

Chloe and Gayle were a proud pair indeed as they posed together alongside the film's poster, before sitting down at a table and putting their pens to good use, signing autographs for fans who await the movie's release.

If I Stay is a love story, which was directed by R.J. Cutler and also stars Snow White And The Huntsman actor Jamie Blackley as Chloe's boyfriend and Mireille Enos as her mother.

It tells the story of a teen musician who falls into a coma after a brutal car accident, after falling in love with a young rocker boy.

Chloe's character Mia is given the choice to die or to go back to her life.

'The readers are very serious about me and Adam, and they really need that palpable relationship, and for me, I just want to go in there and create that relationship with Jamie,' she told MTV News in October.

'It's that young love, and you have to capture that feeling.'

In an interview with Flare magazine this month, Chloe opened up about her own thoughts on love, and confessed that she is not ready for a relationship.

About her love life, the Kick-Ass star confessed, 'It's a tough age to fall in love: people change so quickly.'

Not long now: The drama movie is set for release on August 22

A gift: Lucky fans at the event will be able to see Chloe and Gayle in real life at one of the seven centers

Unlike most of the young actors in the business, the actress would rather be single compared to her friends who are involved in long term relationships: ‘I’m like, "Dude, you’re wasting away your entire high-school years, and now you’re going to waste away your college years."

She elaborated, ‘You're going to spend your entire life in a relationship and then you’re going to get married... and then you’re dead! So you lived your life in a relationship!’ That’s not my style.’

If I Stay is set for release on August 22, and the promotional tour will next hit Chicago, Miami, Dallas, Seattle and San Francisco.
