Magaye Gueye leaves Everton after failing to impress following £1m move

By David Kent

Forward Magaye Gueye has left Everton by mutual consent to end a disappointing stay at Goodison Park.

The 23-year-old signed from Strasbourg for £1million on five-year contract in 2010 but made just 39 appearances, the majority as substitute.

Last season he played just nine minutes, coming off the bench against Stevenage in an FA Cup fourth round tie, under new manager Roberto Martinez.

He had another year to run on his contract but came to an agreement with the Toffees to leave this summer.

'The club would like to thank Magaye for his contribution over the last four years and wish him every success for the future,' said an Everton statement.
