Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult have broken up again.

On Friday a source told UsWeekly the X-Men: Days Of Future Past co-stars have decided to end things for a second time - their first break came in 2013 after two years of dating. 'They just weren't together a lot, her life is a whirlwind.... It just got to be too hard for now,' the insider noted.

This news comes one day after 24-year-old Hoult was seen enjoying a sushi meal with his Equals co-star Kristen Stewart, also 24, in Tokyo.

One week ago the handsome actor was spotted with Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley Keough - who he spent time with in May 2013 as well - while at a nightclub in New York City.

A source told E! News that their break-up 'was very amicable.' The insider added: 'They spent a lot of time apart because of work and it was difficult on their relationship.'

The Oscar-winning beauty recently admitted she wasn't ready to settle down with the British actor, but she insisted she trusted him completely.

Asked about rumors they were engaged, she told Marie Claire magazine: 'We're so young that it would almost be like if we lived in the same city, what would happen? We'd be living together.'

She added, 'At least this way he's in the same boat as I am: We can go out and have our own lives and know that we have each other.

'When we're busy, we agree to mutually ignore each other. Not completely, but neither of us gets mad when the other doesn't text back or call. Life's super busy. Obviously you know what they're doing, and you trust them.'

On Wednesday Kristen and Hoult looked pensive as they sat at a sushi bar in Japan.

'Had the best sushi breky this morning at Daiwa in Tsukiji Fish Market w/ famous peeps. #kristenstewart #nicholashoult (sic),' he captioned a snap in which the two actors could be seen leaving the eatery following their meal.

The 24-year-old Twilight star led the way, her co-star towering above her as he followed closely behind.

Both were dressed down for the outing, with Kristen clad in pale blue jeans and a cropped white midriff-baring T-shirt through which her dark bra was visible.

She had a yellow and black plaid shirt tied around her waist and slipped a navy blue cap on backwards over her recently lopped locks as she tucked into the food before removing it as she headed out.

A long history: The couple, pictured in 2012, started dating in 2011, took a break in 2013, then got back together months later; this time they may be done for good

She appeared to be wearing not a lick of make-up, while she also chose to forgo sunglasses despite the bright sunshine.

Nicholas kept it casual for the low-key excursion, too, donning jeans, a white and blue baseball-style jersey and with a bright red woollen beanie over his mane.

A second image shared on Twitter showed the couple sitting at the counter as their sushi was freshly prepared in front of them, Nicholas' back turned to the camera while Kristen is visible in profile.

Kristen and Jennifer have both starred in huge movie franchises: Stewart's is the Twilight series while Lawrence's is the Hunger Games films.

Kristen has remained single since splitting from Robert Pattinson more than a year ago in the wake of her very public cheating scandal with Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders
in 2012.

They reconciled for a brief time after the affair came out, but it wasn't to last for the former co-stars.

He has since been linked to Sean Penn's daughter Dylan.
