And Hilary Duff showed off the fruits of her labour as she left the gym in Hollywood on Friday.

The 26-year-old actress highlighted her shapely legs in skintight grey jeans paired with a pale blue and white plaid button-up.

The Chasing The Sun singer strutted her stuff in light brown ankle boots and accessorized with fancy sunglasses, numerous rings, and a gold and silver Chanel purse.

She smiled while making her way to her glossy black vehicle before heading off to her next destination.

Meanwhile, Hilary has been labouring away on her upcoming album – the first in seven years – and recently released her first single and its music video on Tuesday, July 29, called Chasing The Sun.

The Lizzie McGuire star is making a comeback after taking an extended break – burnt out after touring for five years straight.

'After about five years, I was like I have no life, I have, like, two friends, I'm never home, I'm never with my family. I kind of needed to shut it all down,’ she said in a recent interview with Billboard's Pop Shop.

'It was time for me to be a person and learn who I wanted to be.'

Hilary also revealed one of the songs on her album is inspired by her relationship with estranged husband Mike Comrie.

'I'm separated from my husband right now,' she said, before opening up about what the very personal process has been like for her.

'Which has been a very difficult thing to go through, but we have a lot of love for each other and we have this beautiful baby,' Hilary continued, referring to their two-year-old son, Luca.

The mother-of-one went on to allude to the fact that things may not be entirely over between she and Mike.

'[There's a song on the album] about my separation and my love for this person, that maybe we're not meant to be together, maybe we are,' she said, adding: 'It's very, very personal.'

Hilary and Mike were married in 2010 after having dated since 2007.
