Changing their tune! Heartbroken Five Seconds Of Summer sing about long lost love in new video for latest single Amnesia

By Daniel Van Boom

Fueled by their feel good anthems, Five Seconds Of Summer's self titled debut album has shot to the top of charts around the world.

But now the boys are changing their tune for the new single Amnesia, crooning soulfully about a lost love they'd wish they could forget.

Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin are seen singing somberly in the official video clip for the single, which was released on Thursday.

It's a far cry from the desolate imagery of them bearing their souls all alone in desolate buildings and empty homes.

'Sometimes I start to wonder, was it just a lie?,' they sing in the chorus, 'if what we had was real, how could you be fine? 'Cause I'm not fine at all.'

Reality? Happy as they are, the good times are simply memories

The Australian band set records on Wednesday when it was revealed their self-titled debut album had topped the Billboard 200 charts.

In what was the third-largest debut of the year, the album sold 259,000 copies in one week - the highest selling debut album in almost eight years.

Drummer Ashton tweeted: 'To everyone that's been a part of the journey so far we love you so much, you guys made the album number #1 in the US, we are speechless...'

While guitarist Michael showed his colourful Australian side: 'Literally CANNOT believe we can say we had a number 1 album in the US... holy s**tballs. WE FINALLY BEAT FROZEN.'

Their success is, of course, not only extending to America. The album also topped charts in Argentina, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia and more.
