As the crowd started to chant 'Jenny' the tearful host said, 'Stop it y'all, or you're going to make me cry'.

McCarthy and Shepherd, 47, announced last month that they would be leaving the all-female morning talk show conceived by Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie.

The show's moderator and co-host Whoopi Goldberg was noticeably absent from the final live show with McCarthy and Shepherd.

McCarthy said that she learned a lot from her mentor Walters and 'dear friend' Shepherd while on the show but did not mention Goldberg in her goodbye speech.

The former Playboy Playmate singled out executive producer Geddie, 59. who also is leaving The View as the show undergoes an overhaul.

'Bill Geddie there really are no words. Working with you I can now say I've worked with the best in the business,' McCarthy told Geddie.

Goldberg will return for the next season of The View and former host Rosie McDonnell has been hired to return to the ABC talk show.

'My time here was short, but the memories and lessons learned here will stay with me forever,' McCarthy said.

'I only took a little time but I definitely enjoyed every second of The View,' the blonde beauty added.

Shepherd during her last live episode after seven years on the show also praised McCarthy.

'This is a job where you've got a lot of craziness going on, but Jenny McCarthy always comes in with a smile and is one of the nicest people to work with in this business so it's been so wonderful having you here,' Shepherd said.

McCarthy and Shepherd said farewell to cast and crew on Thursday but also will be featured in pre-taped shows on Monday and Tuesday.
