Raw sewage closes beach in Cornwall for FOURTH time this summer, as experts warn of 'disturbing' water contamination in holiday hotspots in Kent and Hampshire

Anger is mounting among holidaymakers and traders about raw human sewage being pumped into the sea yards from crowded seaside beaches.

The effluent - which carries potentially lethal germs - drifts on the tide to wash up in a filthy brown 'tidal wave' where children are building sandcastles and paddling.

The protests are coming from resorts as far apart as Hampshire and Cornwall, just as millions of families head for the coast on their annual summer holidays.

Instead of enjoying the sun and relaxing by the sea, parents are anxiously checking that their youngsters are not playing in untreated sewage.

And hotels, B and B owners and beachside traders are worried that it will drive away holidaymakers who don't want to run the risk of catching an infection.

Godrevy Beach in Cornwall was closed after a pollution alert, just days after nine Kent beaches were shut to the public, prompting calls for water companies to find a long-term solution.
