at Outside Lands

At the ripe old age of 74, Patrick Stewart finally experienced his first ever music festival over the weekend - and what a weekend it was.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, the British actor shared an hilarious photo with his 1.41 million fans
of the apparent aftermath of his overindulgence.

However, if you're thinking that he went wild with beer bongs and vodka shots, don't get too carried away.

The happy snap shows him slumped down in his booth seat in a darkened bar, two empty red wine glasses sitting on either side of him on the table.

His bleary eyes are barely open, while he has looks like he is just seconds away from falling asleep and sliding right under the wooden table.

'And my first music festival is over,' he wrote to accompany the shot.

The incredibly likeable star, who is best-known to fans across multiple generations as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek and Professor Charles Xavier in The X-Men, began his trip to the Outside Lands Music And Arts Festival in San Francisco on Saturday.

'My first music festival. #outsidelands': The knighted British actor gave Grumpy Cat a run for her money as he pulled a sour face while taking in the festivities from the stands, seemingly not in the least bit impressed by the goings on around him

He appeared in good spirits as he joined the Improv Shakespeare Company for a group photo, which he later retweeted.

However, by Sunday, he was doing a great impersonation of Grumpy Cat in a photo taken from the stands as he stood side-on to the main stage, the field covered with revellers.

'My first music festival. #outsidelands,' he captioned the not-so-happy snap.

'Performed with @ImprovShakesCo at Outside Lands and Patrick frigging Stewart performed with us. Dream': The star, who is most well-known for his roles in Star Trek and The X-Men, was all smiles as he joined the Improv Shakespeare Company for a performance and group photo on Saturday

And it seems that Patrick wasn't the only one who realised a little too late that music festivals aren't for him.

Wife Sunny Ozell, a 36-year-old talented singer-songwriter whom the knighted actor married last September, also took to Twitter with less-than rave reviews for the overall experience.

'Nothing like going to a big a** music festival for a whole weekend to be reminded you are decidedly NOT in your 20's anymore (sic),' she bemoaned.
