Justin Bieber pleaded guilty on Wednesday to misdemeanor charges of careless driving and resisting arrest seven months after being arrested in Miami.

This was done in exchange for his DUI charge being dropped, according to ABC News.

The 20-year-old Believe hitmaker also reached a plea deal which includes taking a 12-hour anger management course, paying fines and donating $50,000 to a charitable cause. His attorney Mark Shapiro noted the star has already written a check for that amount to a local children's charity.

Bieber was not present at the hearing before Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield.

The anger management course will be private as it is feared public sessions would turn into a 'frenzy.'

He will also have to view online videos of stories of real-life DUI cases with tragic ends.

The singer's friend Khalil Sharieff, who was arrested at the same time when they allegedly drag raced, is expected to receive a similar plea deal.

Bieber was arrested early January 23 in Miami Beach after what police described as an illegal street race between Bieber's rented Lamborghini and a Ferrari driven by Sharieff.

They were reportedly racing down Pine Island Drive, which had been blocked off by the star's security team.

The Baby performer was said to have unleashed a string of expletives when stopped by officers.

Police claimed Justin admitted smoking marijuana and taking prescription medication, with a urine sample testing positive for the drug and anxiety pills Xanax.

However, his blood-alcohol levels were well below the legal limit and he didn't appear intoxicated in police surveillance videos.

In July, Bieber resolved another criminal case by pleading no contest to a misdemeanor vandalism charge for throwing eggs at a neighbor's house in Los Angeles. In that case, Bieber agreed to pay more than $80,000 in damages and meet a number of other conditions.

Bieber is also charged in Toronto with assaulting a limousine driver in late December. His lawyers have said he is not guilty in that case.

Also in Miami, Bieber is being sued by a photographer who says he was roughed up while snapping pictures of the singer outside a recording studio.

Canadian-born Bieber shot to stardom at age 15, with his career overseen by two music industry heavyweights, singer Usher and manager Scooter Braun, after initially gaining notice through YouTube videos.
