She is playing the new sidekick of Dr. Who in the eighth season for BBC America.

A comely companion: Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi was left in the shade by sidekick Jenna Coleman at the show's US premiere in New York on Thursday
The actress, who shot to fame as Emmerdale lesbian Jasmine Thomas, also highlighted her toned legs by wearing a pair of towering stilettos.
And it seemed her co-stars appreciated her look, for Peter could hardly wait to pose up with the saucy starlet after they arrived for the showpiece event in one of the Big Apple's famous yellow taxis.
The dynamic duo grinned with glee as they later had their picture taken with the show's all-powerful lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat.
A silky performance: This lovely floral gown showcased the English rose's knockout figure
It beats The Woolpack: No doubt the former Emmerdale star was enjoying being in the Big Apple
Crowd-pleaser: She was more than happy to give her fans a cheap thrill by mingling and signing autographs
Selfie obsessed: The obliging starlet posed up for a snap with this excited fan at the event
Little miss and Moffat: Later she posed up yet again with the show's executive producer Steven and Pete
But it was not just her fellow Doctor Who favourite who wanted to have their moment with the small screen sexbomb.
For nerd funnyman Chris Hardwick, who is a noted fan of the show, made sure he also got his opportunity to cuddle up with the glamorous Blackpool native before the big premiere.
But Jenna was not the only red carpet stunner in attendance at the exciting event.
For busty Mighty Aphrodite star Mira Sorvino, 46, also turned heads after wearing a revealing black dress to the event.
Stateside fans are currently counting the
days until the show's twelfth Doctor finally gets his own full series
when the show kicks off on BBC America on August 26.
It beats a police box: The show's stars eschewed a TARDIS and instead arrived in a yellow taxi
An enjoyable ride: Jenna looked like she had a great time as she clambered out of a famous New York yellow cab
Grabbed: It was not long before Peter had wrapped his arm around the young starlet
She's popular: Comedian Chris Hardwick insisted on having his picture taken with the stunner

The dynamic duo have been jetting around the world on a five-continent promotional tour, with other stops in London, South Korea, Australia, and Brazil.
Thankfully for long-suffering fans, Thick Of It star Peter says his will be a more serious portrayal, saying 'There'll be no flirting, that's for sure. It's not what this Doctor's concerned with. It's quite a fun relationship, but no, I did call and say, "I want no Papa-Nicole moments". I think there was a bit of tension with that at first, but I was absolutely adamant.'
'It's going to be a bit different from what we've seen over recent years. A bit more gravity. Some situations are more sombre and I think there are more rooted dramatic scenes.
'Over the past two or three years, which I've loved, there has often been a breathless vigour; we still have that attack, but we have another level of drama, another tone. And the scenes are longer.'
Edgy: Jenna sported this cool ear piece which added an interesting touch to her look
A dedicated bunch! The crowd went wild when the two leading stars arrived
No stopping them: They've been cross-crossing the globe with their tour but the pair remained in good spirits
Giving the event a boost: Busty actress Mira Sorvino provided an addition sprinkle of stardust
Big fan: And the Oscar winner's feminine charms ensured the night was even more memorable for fans
Tool: Funnyman Chris Hardwick had brought along his own sonic screwdrivers so he could ham it up
Living out his fantasy: He was also lucky enough to get to pose up with a Cyberman
