The many faces of Taylor Swift: Pop star goes from ballerina to hotpants-wearing fly girl in new music video Shake It Off
She's known for transcending genres in her music.
And for her latest music video Shake It Off Taylor Swift proves she really can do it all as she assumes various personae - from ballerina to hip hop dancer.
The 24-year-old unveiled the video on Monday via live stream on Yahoo, where she also announced the release date for her new album 1989, due October 27th.

Inappropriate? Two members of California hip-hop collective Odd Future have weighed in on the video - despite admitting to not having even watched it - slamming the 24-year-old for 'perpetuating black stereotypes' with her attempts at break dancing and twerking
Talking about the concept for both the song and video of Shake It Off, Taylor said: 'The idea that people can say whatever they want about us at any time, and we cannot control that.'
The clip opens with the blonde beauty stretching gracefully on a barre with fellow dancers in leotards.
It then cuts to Swift dressed in street gear surrounded by break dancers as she carries a boom box.
Ballerina: The 24-year-old assumed the persona of a professional ballet dancer for one segment
No genre is safe! At one point, Tay slips into a ballerina's white swan costume as she proves that pointe is certainly not her forte
The 22 singer is outfitted in leather trousers, a flat billed cap, and a hoodie as she mugs toughly for the camera whilst men flip about around her.
It soon shifts back to Taylor doing ballet, this time in a tutu as dancers pirouette around her before she breaks into some comical hip thrusting.
Other characters she embodies in the fast moving video include a cheerleader, a late Nineties rocker in a black turtleneck and matching jeans, and a modern dancer.
Under fire! Taylor Swift has been accused of cultural appropriation in the video clip for her new single, Shake It Off, which she dropped during a Yahoo! livestream event in New York on Monday
Getting tough: The pop sensation then busted some moves with break dancers as she demonstrated her (lack of) hip hop skills as she continued to mock herself
Give us a T! Swift then assumed the garb of a cheerleader as she was launched up into the air
But her most striking persona is that of a music video fly girl, dressed in cut-off denim shorts and leopard printed top.
Standing tall in white shiny high tops, she is covered in gold chains as she booty shakes with a troupe of fellow girls.
At one point Taylor crawls on all fours between the legs of backup dancers, even humorously sneaking a peek of their derrières in the booty shorts.
Shaking it off: The catchy chorus chimes in with the empowering message, 'But the players gonna play, play, play, play, play and the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake. Shake it off, shake it off'
Switch up: Taylor got in some modern dancing with a troupe of dancers
Her final character appeared to be inspired by a fellow pop star with a penchant for lavish and over-the-top costumes.
Donning a futuristic look, reminiscent of Lady Gag, Taylor wears a blonde wig, a tinted visor and all gold jacket.
The various shifts in personae may be an allusion to the current shift in Taylor's artistry - from country music to mainstream pop.
To that end Swift sings, 'Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate,' before advising her fans (and perhaps herself) to 'Shake it off'.Â
Bright eyed: The young woman got in some stretching as she sang
Going Gaga: The star went futuristic for one segment as she donned a shiny gold metallic outfit and huge glasses teamed with a blunt blonde wig in the vein of Lady Gaga
During the live web-stream on Yahoo, Taylor interacted with fans in the studio where she answered many questions regarding her new album, 1989.
While at the New York City taping, the pop singer chatted with Amy Robach about her upcoming deluxe album as well as several new projects set to occur over the course of the year.
