Taylor Swift's summer single Shake It Off sets record for highest debut on Billboard radio airplay chart
Taylor Swift released her latest single just last week and its already making history.
Billboard reported on Monday that the 24-year-old singer's track Shake It Off broke the record of highest debut ever at No. 9 on the Adult Pop Songs chart.
It was an impressive debut for Taylor as the song also tied Mariah Carey's Dreamlover, which debuted in 1993, for the best start for the Pop Songs chart at No. 12.

The track was released last Monday along with the accompanying music video via live stream on Yahoo.
Talking about the concept for both the song and video of Shake It Off, Taylor said: 'The idea that people can say whatever they want about us at any time, and we cannot control that.'
The chart-climbing single, which has been dubbed a takedown anthem, was able to beat out Alanis Morissette's 1998 song Thank U at No. 13 on Adult Pop Songs en route to becoming the first single to enter the top 10 since the chart launched in March 1996.

Executive VP of Republic Records Charlie Walk told Billboard: 'This historic launch represents impeccable set-up and teamwork with precise execution.
'Most importantly, it further emphasizes the power of Taylor and her world-class music.'
Taylor's latest also set a mark for the most first-week plays on each chart with 2,813 on Adult Pop songs and 8,326 on Pop Songs, respectively.

The country songstress also lit up the stage with an energetic live performance of Shake It Off at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
Introduced by her 17-year-old friend Lorde, Taylor's movement-heavy performance began with the singer lying upon the floor of the stage beside her tuxedo-clad dancers.
The performance included several elements such as the blonde beauty being lifted upon her dancers' shoulders, a giant 1989 display, and plenty of dancing.
Shake It Off is the first single from Taylor's highly-anticipated fifth studio album, titled 1989, which is due for release on October 27.
