Sold! Actor Rachel Griffiths sells her exclusive beach hideaway for more than $2.2 million, lower than the listing price

Actress Rachel Griffiths has sold her 1950s sandstone cottage at ritzy Palm Beach for less than her asking price.

The Daily Telegraph revealed on Thursday that the 45-year-old sold the property to an interstate buyer who purchased it for between $2.2 million and $2.3 million.

Originally buying the home four years after her breakout role in Muriel's Wedding, the star listed it for $2.5 million 10 days ago.

The huge sum was more than triple the price Rachel paid for the cottage in 1998.

 

Amythest McKee, of LJ Hooker Palm Beach, revealed that the Six Feet Under star thought the property would take months to shift, rather than just ten days.

'It was one of the quickest sales in the suburb in a long time,' he admitted.

The 45-year-old, her husband Andrew Taylor and children Banjo, 10, Adelaide, 9, and Clementine, 5, relocated back to Australia two-years-ago after spending the past decade living in Los Angeles.

After finding success in the US on TV dramas Brothers And sisters and Six Feet Under, she returned home to a plethora of acting gigs, including The Julian Assange Story, Paper Giants and more recently Deadline Gallopoli and Stalking Julia.
