It's been an eventful couple of days for Josh Duhamel.

The 41-year-old actor kicked off Labor Day weekend by celebrating his son's first birthday after speaking out about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

On Thursday, the Hollywood hunk showed off his strikingly good looks as he suited up to shoot scenes for his upcoming new TV series Battle Creek in Los Angeles, California.

While on set, the Safe Haven star filmed a Twitter video to explain why he couldn't accept the challenge - after being nominated by actresses Hilary Swank and Emmy Rossum.

'This is for @SMAitForward, Jack Merrill, Joe Carew, @HilarySwank & @EmmyRossum. #SMA #ALS #icebucketchallenge,' he captioned the clip.

But amid his explanation of not being able to soak himself due to work duties, Josh did want to 'emphasise the importance behind ALS and the research involved'.

However, singer Fergie's handsome husband ended up partaking in the challenge anyway, as an unseen crew member decided to interrupt his speech by pouring a bucket of ice water on his head.

Ironically, the star was then immediately 'wanted on set' top film scenes as the dapper detective.

Josh was supposed to be filming a crime scene with his co-star Dean Winters, as he paused to promote awareness and raise funds for Lou Gehrig's Disease.

The next day, Friday, Josh took to Twitter again - this time to wish his son Axl a happy first birthday.

'Happy birthday baby boy,' the actor tweeted with an adorable smiling snapshot of his and Fergie's first born, and only, child.

Meanwhile, Fergie has been busy recording her next album, which is speculated to be dropping in January.

The 39-year-old pop star revealed that her next album will be a solo effort without her Black Eyed Peas bandmates.
