'I'd like another child': Simon Cowell is making plans for baby number two just seven months after becoming a first-time father

By Marc Jackson for MailOnline

Simon Cowell has revealed he is eager to have another child with girlfriend Lauren Silverman.

After becoming a first-time dad aged 54 with the arrival of his son Eric in February, the music mogul is keen to make up for lost time and extend his family.

He told the Sunday People: 'Of course I'd like another child. You have one, and I'd always have another.'

However, the new addition will not become a priority until he wraps up filming on The X Factor.

He added: 'I've thought about having one in between the series of X Factor.'

Although he's a devoted dad, Simon has admitted that he has still to change his son's nappy - and wouldn't even consider tackling the dirty task for £10,000.

He said: 'I still haven't changed a nappy. I don't think you have to.'

'It's like watching your girlfriend go to the loo. You don't have to. You have a choice.'

Asked whether he would be prepared to brandish a wet wipe if compensated, the multi-millionaire star replied: 'Can you up it a bit?'

After the arrival of Eric - who is named after the TV star's beloved late father - Simon gushed about how he relished being a dad himself.

He said: 'I was born to be a dad,' before admitting that he did voice his concerns about whether he could love anything more than his pet dogs.

''I actually said to Lauren beforehand, "What if I like the dogs more than him?" and she said, "You're gonna be absolutely fine," and then literally within seconds of him being born, I got it!'

The broody mogul made his comeback on The X Factor panel on Saturday night, alongside returning judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, former Spice Girl Melanie Brown and music manager Louis Walsh.

Despite the hype surrounding his return to the show after a three year absence, Simon is adamant the series will be axed if it doesn't manage to entice viewers.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: 'If I’d been asked about the future of the show ten years ago I’d never imagine we’d still be making it in 2014.

'Once people get bored with it or if we get bored with it, for sure I’ll drop it.'

The show is set to go up against Strictly Come Dancing when it airs on September 7, a decision which has left Simon furious.

He said ahead of The X Factor's launch: 'It happens. I always think the people they pi** off are the viewers and when they say it isn't a ratings battle, it is - and that's why they did it.

'They didn't have to put it on at the same time, but they did and it means that people then have to make the choice.'
