Is Louis Walsh set to take to the ballroom? X Factor judge jokes he will star in rival show Strictly Come Dancing
|
Louis Walsh could put his ballroom moves to the test as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
The X Factor judge claims he will star on the rival BBC One dancing competition which is due to air in the autumn.
The mogul recently announced that he would quit the X Factor after the upcoming series in order to focus on music management.
Set to put on his dancing shoes? Louis Walsh arrives at the launch of this year's X Factor at the Corinthian Hotel in London
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he
said: ’I am going to be a contestant on 'Strictly Come Dancing'. But I
am saying no more than that.’
But if the star is serious about joining Strictly, his appearance in the competition is sure to frustrate X Factor bosses.
Both shows attract huge TV audiences and are aired at similar times on a Saturday night.

The star has recently faced criticism from Mel C, who said his departure from the X Factor will benefit the show.
The former Spice Girl, who fell out with Louis in 2003, told Richard Bacon on Radio 5 Live: ‘I think it would be a gain if he left, wouldn't it?’
She added: ‘What does he actually do?’
When Richard said that Louis had managed successful boybands such as Westlife and Boyzone, Mel replied: ‘Sorry, he has done a hell of a lot for the industry. I take it all back.’

Louis is also unlikely to get a friendly reception from Strictly co-host Sir Bruce Forsyth.
He hit out at the 85-year-old star, saying that he ‘shouldn't even be alive’ at his age.
He also said: ‘Brucie is too old. He's from a different era.
‘He doesn't know anything about young people or modern entertainment. His time is finished.’
The TV veteran retorted: ‘Louis Walsh said I should be dead by now. Can you believe that, from a jumped-up karaoke judge?’
