By Kate Thomas for MailOnline

She’s amassed a legion of fans thanks to her bubbly personality and crazy antics on MTV reality show Geordie Shore.

But Charlotte Crosby has been struggling to feel positive in the wake of her split her boyfriend of a year-and-a-half, Mitch Jenkins, who hasn’t been in touch with her since he dumped her via text message.

The star opened up exclusively to MailOnline about their bitter break-up, which happened just before she went back into the Newcastle party pad to film series nine of the popular reality show.

Charlotte explained: ‘I never wanted to end things. It was at a point in our relationship where I was really down. I did get the feeling sometimes that he didn’t care as much and that he’d stopped loving me.

‘It was starting to make my feelings change and make me a miserable person.’

The 24-year-old brunette revealed she had been on an all-day photo shoot six weeks ago when she plucked up the courage to text Mitch and try and arrange a chat.

She tearfully said: ‘I went to test him, I said: “I think we need to talk, I’m not very happy at all at the minute.” He was messaging me loads and loads… [But later] he said he was going out with his friends.

‘You would have thought he’d want to come and see me. I'd have been on the first train. I was so 100 per cent involved in him, if he’d said that to me I would have dropped everything to go see him.

‘I was meant to be ringing him at 9pm. And I just got a message on my phone saying “Charlotte, it’s obvious you don’t want to be with me anymore, so I’ll just cut the bulls**t and I’ll finish things now.” '

Charlotte was then forced to hand in her mobile and head into the Geordie Shore house, knowing full well they wouldn’t have any contact – but she wasn’t expecting him to cut ties completely.

She added: ‘It was a bit upsetting to see when I came out of the house that he didn’t even try and text me. That hurt me the most. We haven’t spoken since.

‘Leaving felt weird because I didn’t have the constant distraction of living with nine other people. I was in my house alone and cried for about three hours. It was awful. Since then I’ve had major lows and major highs.’

However, the fan favourite insists the London lad was a ‘lovely boyfriend’ to her and always treated her well until their romance fizzled out.

Charlotte – who left the house on multiple occasions to go and see camera-shy Mitch – regrets not being her usual happy-go-lucky self in recent series of the show and promises she is back on form in the upcoming ninth installment.

She laughed: ‘The new series is going to be so good. I’m back to my normal self, I’m going out getting drunk every single night - it’s going to be wild. I think I went a little bit too over the top sometimes. I’m a bit worried!’

Despite rumours she is back with her on/off fling and co-star Gary ‘Gaz’ Beadle, Charlotte has vowed to stay single.

Asked if she’s looking for love, she replied: ‘God no. I don’t want to go through this again.’

Nevertheless, the reality star hinted romance could be in the air for her best pal Holly Hagan, who has been getting closer to newcomer Kyle Christie in recent episodes.

She said: ‘I love them so much, they’re so cute together. In this series they’re very close but there’s a lot more to develop, it’s a massive rollercoaster journey.’

Charlotte insists she has no more beef with flirtatious co-star Marnie Simpson - who initially clashed with the girls when she set her sights on the men in the house - and was actually pleased to see the 'drama queen' get with serial womaniser Gaz.

She enthused: ‘To be honest, that’s the first time Gary had ever changed for a girl. It was like I was watching a different person. I’ve never seen him act like that ever – he has got hope for the future!’

The Celebrity Big Brother 2013 winner has been glued to her TV watching the current edition of the Channel 5 show and loves seeing her co-star Ricci Guarnaccio pursue TOWIE’s Lauren Goodger.

Quizzed whether she believes Lauren in using Ricci for a showmance in a bid to avoid eviction, she mused: ‘I don’t think that’s true. If you’re single of course you’re going to be flirty and get with someone. Its natural, it happens in everyday life.

‘It’s stupid thinking people have got motives behind it. Because I couldn’t flirt with someone I didn’t find attractive - it would make me feel sick!’

The party-mad Geordie also revealed she feels sorry for Point Break actor Gary Busey being bullied by his fellow housemates, but has some sympathy for the situation.

She said: ‘It’s awkward to watch and it’s not very nice. There’s times when I’ve been thinking that. But unless you’re living with the man 24/7 you don’t know how irritating he’s actually been in there.

‘He does look like he winds people up sometimes, so I don’t think he is completely a victim.’

Charlotte has been busy working on her new Autumn/Winter clothing line in collaboration with InTheStyle.co.uk.

She enthused: ‘I’m really excited about it because I helped with everything – designing, coming up with the name, I’m just dead proud of it. It’s all stuff I’d wear, it’s all my style.’

Meanwhile on Wednesday the reality star enjoyed a pamper session at the Tracie Giles Salon in Knightsbridge, London.

She showed off her trim pins in a silk paisley romper and she added a tough touch with a pair of black Doc Martens.
