In it, Matt plays a fictionalised version of himself, which he says has been particular fun.
'He just happens to have the same name I do,' he told Boston Common magazine. 'When we were coming up with who the character was going to be, I thought it would be fun since our salaries were all published during Friends to make this Matt LeBlanc way, way wealthier than me.'
In the interview he also discusses the publicity frenzy surrounding Friends during the height of its popularity. 'The weirdest thing was walking into a room, a restaurant, a bar, a movie theater, anywhere there’s a lot of people, and everybody sort of stopping what they’re doing and taking notice you’re in the room,' he said.
'They'd think they know you'.

Despite the success of his new comedy series, Matt acknowledges he will always be remembered as Joey.
'I don't know that I'll ever get away from the fact that I played Joey,' he said. 'People are always going to remember that, which is flattering and really nice and I don't see that as a bad thing. You know, people say, "Oh you're pigeonholed," or this or that.
'But I'm extremely proud of Friends. I think we had a great run, it was a lot of fun. We all stuck together. Accomplished a lot of things. It changed the course of my life forever. My kid's life. My grandchildren's lives.
'For me, Joey will always have a special place in my heart. He was always just incorrect. Not dumb. Just incorrect.'
