Wilson has sponsored the teenager and her family for over eight years - long before she shot to fame with a breakout role in Bridesmaids - and clearly loved reuniting with them.

In fact, the family still have the star's first acting headshot in pride of place in the living room- the black-and-white photo from 2007 laminated and framed on the mantelpiece.

'Got to visit my AHMAZING sponsor child Winnie at her family's home today! She made me the headpiece x,' she wrote to her 1.89million Twitter followers, referring to hairpiece.

'Yes, that is my 2007 acting headshot adorning their mantle x Winnie kept it all these years!!! And laminated it!'

A bronze kangaroo figure was also visible, positioned next to the professional photo - adding another small touch of Australiana.

Wilson later shared a picture of herself posing with Winnie's family and some household animals.

'And here is Winnie with her whole beautiful family...her Mum cooked a feast for my visit #ChuggaStyle x,' she wrote.

Wilson is well-acquainted with South Africa, having been based in the country for one year as a Rotary International Youth Ambassador for Australia.

While she was there she contracted malaria and had hallucinations where she saw herself winning an Oscar, which convinced her to seriously pursue an acting career.
