Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow is reportedly converting to Judaism following her separation from husband Chris Martin.

Sources tell Page Six the 41-year-old has turned to the Jewish faith after developing an interest in Kabbalah, an esoteric faith with origins steeped in Judaism.

Gwyneth’s staunch belief in its ideologies is understood to have been one of the contributory factors behind her ‘conscious uncoupling’ with Coldplay rocker Chris in March.

The actress, a close friend of Kabbalah Centre co-founder Michael Berg, learned more about her Jewish ancestry while appearing on an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? In 2011.

Tracing her bloodline back through the centuries, Gwyneth – who described herself as a ‘Jewish princess’ during an interview with The Guardian five-years earlier – was told she descended from generations of ‘influential’ eastern European rabbis.

Page Six claim the actress later announced that she intended to raise her two children with Chris – Apple, 10, and eight-year-old Moses – in accordance with the Jewish faith.

The announcement is thought to have been made during her attendance at an event in London hosted by the Community Security Trust – a charity that endeavours to protect British Jews from anti-Semitism and bigotry.

MailOnline have contacted Gwyneth’s representatives for further comment.

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday evening, Gwyneth – the daughter of late Hollywood producer Bruce Paltrow and actress Blythe Danner – opened up about her unconventional education at an offbeat school in her native California.

‘It was great but I didn’t learn anything,’ she said. ‘We used to meditate in the mornings.

‘We had one teacher who was really into Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye, so in the fifth grade we came in to that and we would dance and stuff.’

She admitted the Californian school, which she says has improved over the years, turned its back on conventional schooling methods.

‘We didn’t really learn math or reading,’ she recalled. ‘But we had this awesome emotional movement class where our movement teacher would bang a tambourine and tell us to make a shape to express our feelings, so we had a great time.’
