Tiny Stjarnan making big waves

Stjarnan have accounted for Bangor City, Motherwell and Lech Poznan so far in their Europa campaign. Next up -- Inter Milan.

Four years ago a tiny team from Iceland suddenly became a huge hit on YouTube.

Stjarnan, an outfit that was absolutely anonymous until then, made the headlines by providing extremely imaginative goal celebrations. Fishing, swimming, bobsleighing, ballet dancing and many more -- you name it!

Gudjohnsen confirms International retirement

Former Chelsea and Barcelona midfielder Eidur Gudjohnsen confirmed his retirement from International football after Iceland failed to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil.

Aron Johannsson wants U.S. switch

CHICAGO -- The U.S. Soccer Federation says forward Aron Johannsson wants to switch national team programs from Iceland to the United States.

The USSF submitted an application for Johannsson on Tuesday to FIFA, soccer's governing body. FIFA approves applications for switches if all the requirements for the submission are met.

Johannsson, a 22-year-old Mobile, Ala., native, grew up in Iceland and scored one goal in 11 appearances for Iceland's under-21 team. He appeared in eight qualifiers f...
