Putting in the leg work! Dakota Fanning shows off her slim limbs in a mini skirt and thigh-high boots
She's developed her own quirky yet fashionable sense of style.
And on Monday Dakota Fanning put her hipster ethos to work as she stepped out in New York city wearing an edgy ensemble.
The 20-year-old was spotted running errands in the Big Apple in a pair of thigh-high leather boots and a small plaid mini skirt.

Making sure to stay comfortable, the former child star wore a feline inspired jumper with crudely designed drawing and the words 'White Cat' emblazoned across her chest.
Dakota's long blonde hair hung in flowing waves over her shoulders as she protected her eyes with oval rose tinted sunglasses.
Completing her attire was a leather handbag strapped across her chest as she clutched a to-go box of food.

Last week on Tuesday Fanning attended the Rodarte runway show during New York's Fashion Week looking every inch the starlet.
She wore a shiny white satin jacket over a v-neck T-shirt and a white, embossed satin skirt, split way high to give a generous view of her shapely legs.
Dakota is no newcomer to the fashion world, considering designer Marc Jacobs cast her in his spring 2007 ad campaign when she was just 12, with his whole collection custom-sized for her.
Next role: Dakota - seen at the Rodarte fashion show on Tuesday - will next appear in Effie Gray due in October
In fact, they are still friends and she appeared in his Oh, Lola! fragrance ads in 2011.
Meanwhile, Dakota has had a busy year on the acting front, with four films to her credit: Very Good Girls, The Last Of Robin Hood, Night Moves and Every Secret Thing out on release.
She also has the upcoming Franny starring Richard Gere and Yellowbird, an animated children's movie, which are in post-production but due out by the end of 2014.
Next up, she has an untitled Gerardo Naranjo film due out in 2015, as well as two book-to-film adaptations, Brain On Fire and American Pastoral, due out the following year.
