'I'll be behind the till!' Victoria Beckham heads to check on her flagship store as she reveals 'David will be on the door and Brooklyn working as a Saturday boy'

It's been more than two years since Victoria Beckham first opened up about her plans for a flagship London store and they have finally (almost) come to fruition.

And with the Dover Street, Mayfair shop's opening looming ever closer, the designer was spotted checking on the site on Tuesday.

Wearing a loose fitting black dress with a peplum hemline, Victoria looked in business mode as she studied the progress the builders were making.

Posh's appearance at the building site came as she revealed plans to be a hand-on owner and may even rope in her family including husband David and son Brooklyn, 15, to help out.

She told Grazia: 'I love retail - I'll be taking appointments with people... maybe go behind the till. Who knows maybe David will be on the door and Brooklyn will be a Saturday boy?'

Victoria is excited about opening the 7,000 square feet store which will stock both her main collection, her spin-off ranage Victoria by Victoria Beckham, and accessories.

And if things go well, it will be the first of many.

Speaking in 2012 about her plans, she told CNN Asia: 'People say, "Am I going to have my own store?" I would love to. That's what I'm working on at the moment.

'It would probably be in London, but in the not-too-distant future maybe it will be Hong Kong. Who knows?'

Speaking to Women's Wear Daily, Beckham revealed earlier this year that customers visiting the store will get an insight into the brand and the design process.

'I think the time is now because I know my customer,' she explained. 'It will be the first time that the people will really be able to see the brand through my eyes.'

The interior of the 7,000 square feet space has been given a new look by architect Farshid Moussavi, whose credits include the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland.

Plans included drilling a hole through the middle of the building to link the boutique's three floors and creating a conceptual interior.

'[Moussavi] is a woman who loves fashion as well,' she added. 'She has quite a conceptual eye, which I like.

'We want to make something different without making it overly complicated. I just want it to feel real for me.'
