Jada Pinkett Smith has confirmed that she has been cast in Magic Mike XXL, and revealed that the character was originally written for a man.

Speaking on the Queen Latifah show, Jada laughed off the host's suggestion that she would be 'up there stripping'.

'No, not one of those [characters]!' she said, after explaining 'there was a character written for a male that they wanted to turn into a female.'

'I can't really reveal it yet, but I'm excited about it' she added.

After much whooping an excitement from the audience, Queen Latifah - who claimed she was jealous about Jada being around hunky men - teased her by saying 'how come you're not excited to be around that beefcake?'.

Jada was quick to retort: 'I'm used to being around all that beefcake because you know who I live with,' she said, talking about her husband Will Smith.

The actress appears to be on a high at the moment, what with her other role in the much-talked about Gotham series.

Jada recently revealed her delight about getting to 'play evil' on the show.

'She's part of the mob world of Gotham, which really hasn't been explored yet,' she revealed of her character Fish Mooney.

'This is before Batman, this is the beginning, this is the origin of how Batman came to be,' she added.

Jada admitted that she created the character using a mix of drug lord Griselda Blanco, and the character Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard.
