On Tuesday three new images from the action thriller - due out in January - were released with the 62-year-old star looking as tense as usual.

That same day the Irish actor told USA Today that the series is over. 'I think this is the end,' he confessed of the mega successful franchise.

Neeson also went on to humorously decry the constant kidnapping that seems to go on within his household.

'If my daughter was 'taken' again on a trip, Bryan Mills would have to be certifiably locked up for bad parenting,' he joked.

This time around, Neeson becomes the hunted after being accused of killing a friend.

'I have to go on the run, I'll put it that way,' he said in the interview.

'From the not-so-lawful types and the lawful authorities. Bryan Mills served his country faithfully, but now even they are after him. They must not like me.'

Joining Neeson for the third go-round are Maggie Grace, who returns as Neeson's perpetually kidnapped daughter, and Famke Janssen, who is back as her mom.

They're joined in this one by Forest Whitaker, who plays a lawman who may or may not be on Neeson's side.

As for Whitaker's big moment with the action star, he said, 'There's no big fight between us, which I would have loved.'

The actor is considered one of Hollywood's biggest action stars.
