But Kerry Washington took a momentary break from being a doting mother while making a swift exit from the luxurious Ritz-Carlton hotel in New York on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old walked in front of husband Nnamdi Asomugha as a nanny safely carried their precious five-month-old in her arms.

Kerry looked impeccable as always casually attired in a neutral sweater wrap, rolled up boyfriend jeans and a pair of navy blue leather ankle boots.

With her arms crossed, she carried a tan tote and strutted confidently onto Central Park South.

The Scandal star's NFL player husband was decked out in a monochromatic ensemble consisting of a black windbreaker, T-shirt, jeans and Nike trainers.

With her family in tow, the talented beauty has been busy promoting the upcoming fourth season of her ABC hit, which debuts on Thursday.

The plot of the new season has been kept closely under wraps with the whereabouts of her character Olivia Pope a mystery.

Fans of the series, who call themselves Gladiators, last saw Olivia getting on a plane as she jetted off to an undisclosed location with her on-off beau Jake Ballard, portrayed by actor Scott Foley.

Speaking to USA Today, the actress did give a hint as to what's in store for the riveting series in the premiere episode.

'You will find out where Olivia goes. You'll get that answer,' the Emmy nominated star revealed.

'It's way too weird. I'd never wear her clothes. You know me. I don't dress like Olivia.

'I've been able to define in many ways when I'm Olivia and when I'm Kerry, based on the clothes,' she said with a laugh.
