'Trust your gut': Liberty Ross talks moving on from her husband Rupert Sanders' affair with Kristen Stewart

It's been just over two years since Kristen Stewart and married film director Rupert Sanders were caught wrapped in a steamy clinch - leaving their partners devastated.

While Kristen and her then-beau Robert Pattinson tried - and failed - to make it work, model Liberty Ross wasted no time in filing for divorce from her cheating husband.

And now the 36-year-old has opened up to Grazia magazine about life without her ex, admitting that learning to trust her gut has been a vital lesson.

She said: 'The most valuable thing I can share is the importance of living in truth. Sometimes, facing those truths can actually be your worst fear. Trusting your gut is always the best thing - no matter what people around you insist you should be doing or saying or thinking. Only you know and once you live in truth your heart is completely free.'

A member of the aristocracy by birth, the brunette beauty left London for LA in 2004, putting her own modelling career on the back-burner to support Rupert in his quest to become a successful film director.

Waving goodbye to the catwalk, she instead became a stay-at-home mum to daughter Skyla, 10, and son Tennyson, seven.

And she admits that life as a young mum in a strange country was undeniably daunting.

She said: 'I was only 25 when I had my first, so I really didn't know what I was doing. I'd just moved to LA, I didn't know anyone and I was breastfeeding on the hilltop kind of thinking, "Wow, what happened?"'

Ironically, it would be 41-year-old Rupert's hard-fought for career that led him to the arms Kristen, 24, on the set of Snow White And The Huntsman.

The pair's affair was exposed when they were spotted enjoying a passionate kiss by the side of a road in the Hollywood Hills in July 2012. 

However, despite the way things turned out, Liberty - who has since moved on with music producer Jimmy Iovine - remains adamant that she doesn't regret her decision to dedicate herself so wholeheartedly to her family.

She said: 'I loved all those homey things - like having a list on the fridge. As a model, you're never anywhere for more than a day, so your fridge is empty or there's just a chunk of old cheese. I romanticised all of that domesticity - that's who I really am.'
