With the Ray Rice scandal making headlines, CBS opted not to air a taped musical segment featuring the 2009 hit - presumably due to Rihanna being a victim of domestic violence - during the opening of Thursday Night Football two weeks ago.

But when CBS decided to run the segment a week later, Rihanna took to Twitter to blast the network.

She wrote: 'CBS you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday? NO, F*** you! Y'all are sad for penalizing me for this.'

CBS followed up by releasing a statement saying they would not use Rihanna's performance going forward.

'Beginning this Thursday, we will be moving in a different direction with some elements of our Thursday Night Football open.

'We will be using our newly created Thursday Night Football theme music to open our game broadcast.'
