In need of some 'me' time! Busy mother-of-four Maya Rudolph goes make-up free for a relaxed lunch outing

By MailOnline Reporter

She's a busy mother-of-four with a demanding career in show business.

So a make-up free journey out to delicious West Hollywood eatery Joan's on Third was probably the perfect interval for Maya Rudolph.

The 42-year-old Bridesmaids star, whose youngest child recently turned one year old, was spotted enjoying animated conversation with friends outside the popular lunch spot on Wednesday.

Maya was comfortably clad for her sunny outing in loose-fitting grey trousers rolled up at the ankles plus a black T-shirt beneath.

She threw a chic denim jacket over the top, and kept things simple in Birkenstock sandals.

The former Saturday Night Live favourite wore an array of silver necklaces around her neck and had her curly tresses pulled back into a convenient bun.

The comedic gem is a mother to four children with her director partner Paul Thomas Anderson, with whom she has been in a relationship since 2001.

Their brood consists of Pearl, eight, Lucille, four, Jack, three, and the latest addition Minnie Ida Anderson, who turned one year old in August.

When Maya Rudolph filed a birth certificate for Minnie in July - almost a year after she was born - it became known that she had named her after her late mother, singer Minnie Riperton.

The document, obtained by TMZ, revealed the talented actress gave birth to a baby girl on August 1 last year.

Riperton, best known for her 1975 song Lovin' You, tragically died aged 31, just two weeks before Maya's seventh birthday, in 1979 after losing a battle with breast cancer.

Maya revealed last year that her priorities changed after she gave birth to her oldest child Pearl.

'Before I had children, everything about my life was devoted to Saturday Night Live,' she said.

'It's really difficult to be there for anyone else in your life when you're doing the show because of the hours it demands.'

She previously told LimeLife: 'I'm a little bit of a pro now. The stuff that I used to fear and worry about is so different now.'

Maya will next be seen - or rather heard - voicing the character of Aunt Cass in Walt Disney animated comedy Big Hero 6, which tells the story of a young robotics prodigy and his robot.
