The most well know visual imagery associated with the Civil War are the photographs of Mathew Brady, Alexander Gardner, and others. There is, however, a variety of other material which is equally interesting in its own right. The material on this site constitutes various attempts at colored imagery related to the war. Despite the fact that most of it was produced a number of years after the conflict, due to the lack of inexpensive methods for color printing during the specific time period, it still provides valuable insights into how that terrible conflict was viewed.
