End of the road: X Factor dream comes crashing down for Harry Styles' cousin Ben Selley as his band Concept are eliminated from competition

With his famous connections, good looks and growing collection of fans, it seemed that Ben Selley was on the road to becoming the second person in his family to make it big on The X Factor.

But on Friday night, he was shown learning that his journey on the talent show came to an abrupt end as his band Concept were eliminated from the show.

Before his final performance on the show, Ben, cousin of One Direction heart-throb Harry Styles, spoke of his reluctance to return to everyday life, should his band's bid be unsuccessful.

'[I don't want] to get a no - back to square one, back to the shops, back to selling shoes,' he said on location in Bermuda.

The band - including Karim Newton, Matt Goodenough, Nathan Gittens and Scott Dicks - then nervously stepped out to sing Beyonce's XO for Louis Walsh and guest judge Tulisa Contostavlos.

But after their impressive performance, the judges' final decision to select Blonde Electra, the New Boy Band and Only The Young left them out in the cold.

The bandmates were seen holding back tears as they learned that their time on the show had come to an end.

The band impressed judges with their rendition of Labrinth’s Earthquake when they first appeared on the show in September, but eventually fell short of making it to the live shows.

Earlier on Friday, the singers wowed fans as they performed in London's Leicester Square.

And in proving that heart-throb qualities run in the genes, handsome Ben soon found himself knocked to the ground by the horde of admirers as he struggled to keep a hold of his guitar.

Wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the words 'Join The Society' and a pair of fashionably ripped navy jeans, the X Factor hopeful looked slightly dazed as he was helped back onto his feet by pals.

Ben's cousin Harry found success on the show in 2010 as a part of One Direction, going on to become one of the world's biggest pop acts.
