Miss USA 2014 Nia Sanchez will soon become a Mrs.

For the 24-year-old beauty queen is now engaged to 21 & Over star Daniel Booko, 30, RumorFix has revealed. 

After just over a year of dating, the actor popped the question to the gorgeous pageant winner at a romantic candle-lit suite at the NoMad Hotel in New York City on Saturday.

For the engagement, Daniel decided to surprise an unsuspecting Nia - who currently lives in New York City - at a hotel in the Big Apple.

'She has a few of her best friends visiting her this weekend so I said "What better time to surprise her?" She has no idea I’m flying in,' the actor said with a grin to the entertainment website before the big day. 

He added: 'She’s thinking she’s going to an event with friends … [and] I will be there looking all dapper in a suit decorated with candles and flowers and the whole thing and have her come over - just her and I to have an intimate moment - then get down on one knee and propose.'

The engagement ring is a stunning two carat sparkler that features three red, white, and blue stones along the inside of the band, in honour of her pageant title.

'We’re both people of faith... I love the three diamonds as the trinity - Father, the son and the Holy Spirit,' Daniel said.

He revealed in the interview that he first laid eyes on the black belt-holder at an engagement party, but the pair didn't officially exchange pleasantries until three months later at church.

'I walked up to her and said, "Hey you’re Nia Sanchez," and struck up a conversation that way,' the brunette actor said.

The Sacramento-born beauty queen was crowned Miss USA 2014 in June at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, beating out runner-ups from North Dakota, Georgia, and Florida.

She has stated that self-defense is an important attribute women should possess, remarking at the pageant: 'Myself, as a fourth-degree black belt, I learned at a young age that you need to be confident and be able to defend yourself. And I think that's something we should really implement for a lot of women.' 

Next up Nia will compete against other winners around the globe for the Miss Universe title in January.
