It's Miller time! Wentworth looks as cool as they come as he poses up as Captain Cold in new stills from The Flash

It is usually the case that villains look cooler than the superheroes.

But this is especially true in The Flash judging by new stills which show Wentworth Miller as dastardly villain Captain Cold.

The English-born beefcake looked like he was having a ball hamming it up as the Crimson Comet's bitter enemy.

The 42-year-old Prison Break favourite looked like he was relishing the chance to return to the small screen once again as a criminal.

And he certainly looked imposing in his character's trademark ensemble of anorak, pullover and sunglasses.

He was also brandishing the villain's trademark weapon, which fires a cold beam that freezes anything it hits instantly.

The fan favourite character's appearance will certainly please fans of the classic DC comic, which has been adapted into a series starring Grant Gustin, and is a spin-off of popular programme Arrow.

He is playing Barry Allen, a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who becomes The Flash after being struck by lightening.

A S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator accident causes the thunderstorm, and when the hero awakens from a coma discovers he has superhuman speed.

In the source comics, Captain Cold served as a bitter villain to the Silver-Age Flash Barry Allen, was both enemy and grudging friend to third Flash Wally West, and was one of the killers of the fourth Flash Bart Allen.

The first episode of the series -  which is called City of Heroes, is being aired on The CW tonight.
