It was announced on Thursday her CBS sci-fi series Extant had been renewed for a second series.

So it was no wonder that Halle Berry was sporting such a wide grin as she left a skincare salon in Hollywood on the very same day.

The star treated herself to a pampering session after hearing the good news and couldn't keep the smile off her face as she walked back to her car.

Good news: Halle Berry couldn't stop smiling as she left her appointment at her local beauty parlour in Hollywood on Thursday following the announcement her TV show Extant had been renewed for a second series

The 48-year-old beauty was dressed down for the occasion in faded jeans with a rip across one knee.

She added a pair of embroidered leather boots with gold buckle detailing and a casual sleeveless T-shirt.

Halle was sporting wavy hair extensions, which added extra length to her ombre tresses.

She accessorised with a pair of sunglasses and two layered pendant necklaces, sporting a fake snakeskin bag over one shoulder.

The down-to-earth Oscar-winner was happy to pose en route to her car in order to take a selfie with an eager fan.

Steven Spielberg produced series Extant is due to return to our screens next summer.

Halle plays an astronaut and scientist who returns to earth following a year-long solo mission.

Meanwhile, Halle has returned to work following a lengthy summer holiday with her husband Olivier Martinez, their 11-month-old son Maceo, and her daughter Nahla, who she has with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
